Calgary fashionistas can now rejoice in another new independent boutique arriving on the local shopping scene. Located in historic Inglewood, Mandarine Couture offers a quirky and trendy collection of apparel and accessories.

“The main idea is to provide more choices for women”, says owner Melody Song.  Inspired by the thriving independent boutiques in Europe and Asia, Song says she wants to help create a similar shopping culture in Calgary where there’s “intrigue about finding something different every time.”

To that end, she brings in new arrivals regularly to keep up with the latest rends.  The fresh, white gallery-like showroom, although sparse, has a good selection of coats, dresses and tops that are either imported from China  ...

“We carry ready-to-wear pieces with interesting couture details so that clothing can be worn to all sorts of occations,” says Song.

Fashionistas have a new shop to frequent with the opening of Mandarine Couture in Inglewood. Carrying ready-to-wear, limited pieces (only one per size) from European and Asian brands as well as handbags from Totty and Gai Matiolo.  Store co-owner Melody Song hopes to achieve a big-city shopping experience. “When I shop in cities like Montreal, Beijing, or Paris there are tons of little shops, and you never know what you will find. I want to bring that intrigue to Calgary.”

The shop will also carry clothing and handcrafted jewellery from a few independent designers.
